"Exactly like my sasuma makes."

The dhokali pieces are soft but hold their shape. The toor dal base has the right sweet-sour tang. I was genuinely shocked a pouch could taste this good.

"Proper Charotar food in London."

Finding dal dhokali outside Gujarat is impossible. My mum shipped me a box and I nearly cried. The spicing is authentic — not dumbed down for mass market.

"Sunday lunch in 5 minutes."

We used to spend two hours making dal dhokali on Sundays. Now I heat this and spend those two hours relaxing. Tastes about 90% as good as fresh.

"Sweet-sour and soft"

The dhokali soaked up the dal nicely. That Charotar sweet-sour balance is there. Could do with a few more dhokali pieces.

"Two hours saved"

We used to spend the whole afternoon on this. Now it is ten minutes and still tastes properly home-made.

How to heat

Two ways. Either is foolproof.

Heat & eat — the way mum would, in minutes. Pick your way:

Questions, answered

Six things people ask.

Correct. Our retort pouch is sterilized at 121°C and sealed under nitrogen — the same technology the Indian army and ISRO use. Store at room temperature for 12 months. Refrigerate only after opening.

12 months from the manufacture date printed on the back of the pouch. Once opened, finish within 24 hours (refrigerated).

We won't say identical — fresh is always fresh. But the retort process locks in flavour and texture at the peak of cooking, so most customers can't tell the difference once it's heated through. For the closest result, heat it in a pan rather than the microwave.

Yes — fully sealed retort pouches are allowed in checked baggage internationally. Many of our NRI customers do exactly this.

Yes. Payments are handled entirely by our payment gateway — we never see or store your card or UPI details. If your order can't be fulfilled for any reason, the full amount is refunded automatically. Prepaid orders above ₹699 also ship free.
